Every guy who seeks to better himself probably knows by heart Proverbs 27:17. Even then they knew that one of the best tools that guys have in their lives are other guys. That "brotherhood" is imperative to a healthy life.
ChristianGuys.org also knows that we need those connections. While we do not desire or claim to take the place of real personal interaction and accountability, we do want to make sure that we are facilitating the opportunity for you to connect with someone else in a personal way.
Accountability is not just asking "how are you doing", it's about being open and honest with someone no matter what the outcome. Accountability is being vulnerable, something that guys are not good at. We have to be able to move out of the "one man show" mentality and show that we can be connected at a deeper level that what men in the past have. Accountability is hard!
Now it is time for me to be very frank. Many guys come to the site looking for accountability, we place them with one of our accountability guides and they do good for a few days, weeks, maybe even a month but then they stop returning our emails, if we have setup a time to talk on the phone, they won't answer. Why is that? It is because of the cycle of sin. First we are tempted, then we give into temptation and we do the things that we don't want to do, then comes regret, we feel bad and remorseful about falling again, so we ask God to forgive us and we muster up enough courage to ask for help so we come to a site like this and ask for help. Well as the days pass and the courage that we found the day that we messed up is passed we start thinking that we can do it on our own and we drop contact only to start the cycle over again the next time we mess up.
