Preparing for Rain!

Have you ever found yourself asking, “Why isn’t God working through me like He does through others?” You’re not alone. But the answer might be simpler than you think.

The Parable of the Two Farmers

In the movie “Facing the Giants,” a story unfolds about two farmers who both pray for rain. However, only one of them actually prepares his fields to receive it. Which farmer do you think truly trusted God to send the rain? The one who prepared his fields, of course! The message is clear: God will send the blessings when He’s ready, but we must prepare ourselves to receive them.

The Importance of Preparation

We often find ourselves on our knees, asking God to solve our problems. We wait for a divine intervention to magically fix everything. But have we prepared ourselves to receive His blessings? Have we tilled the soil of our hearts and minds?

Imagine what God could do through you if you weren’t held back by the fear of judgment from others. Think about the impact you could make if you spent quality time in His Word every day, instead of scrolling through social media. The effort you put into preparing yourself spiritually is just as crucial as any work you do in the physical world.

Questions to Ask Yourself

  • What could God do through you if you didn’t care what people thought of you?
  • What could God do through you if you didn’t spend time filling your mind with worldly distractions?
  • What could God do in you if you spent more than just a couple of minutes, but real quality time, in His Word daily?
  • What could God do in you if you spent as much time talking to Him as you do texting or talking on your phone?

Choosing Your Path

You have to decide what type of Christian man you’re going to be. Will you be the Christian who sits on the sidelines, wondering why God doesn’t work through you the way He works through others? Or will you be the Christian man who works the field, even though you can’t yet see the result, but continue to press on toward the goal?

So, the only question you really have to ask yourself is, “Which one are you?”

“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:12-14, NLT)

It’s time to take action. Spend some time in prayer, delve into the Word, and prepare your heart for the blessings God has in store for you.
