Intercessory Prayer
Carrying people and needs before God with love, faith, humility, and perseverance

Intercession is prayer offered for another person, community, leader, church, or need. It is an act of love that brings what we cannot control before the God who is wise, powerful, and good.
We do not intercede because God lacks information or must be manipulated. We pray because He invites His people to participate in His purposes through dependent love.
Pattern
Jesus prays for His people
Jesus prays for protection, holiness, unity, witness, and the future believers who will receive the gospel. His prayer is shaped by the Father’s glory and mission.
Intercession can likewise move beyond preferred outcomes to ask for deep faithfulness, wisdom, endurance, reconciliation, and salvation.

Practice
Pray specifically without trying to control
Name the person and the need, then pray from Scripture: for love, discernment, holiness, courage, provision, healing, justice, and endurance as appropriate.
Leave room for God’s wisdom. Intercession is not a way to override another person’s will, claim secret knowledge, or guarantee the outcome we desire.

Perseverance
Let prayer lead to faithful presence
When possible, join prayer to appropriate action: a call, meal, visit, gift, apology, referral, or act of service.
Protect confidential information. You rarely need to share details widely in order to ask others to pray, and urgent danger requires action as well as prayer.

Carry the idea into life.
- Write the names of three people and one Scripture-shaped request for each.
- Pray for leaders, churches, nations, and people who do not yet know Christ.
- Take one appropriate action that expresses the love you are praying for.
