Identity in Christ
Receiving a God-given identity that is deeper than achievement, image, failure, or approval

Men are constantly invited to build identity from performance, appearance, sexuality, possessions, relationships, politics, or pain. These things may describe parts of our story, but none can carry the weight of telling us who we finally are.
Christian identity begins with God’s creation of humanity in His image and is renewed through union with Jesus Christ.
Receive
Let grace name you before achievement does
In Christ, believers are chosen, redeemed, forgiven, adopted, and sealed with the Holy Spirit. These gifts are received through Christ, not manufactured through self-confidence.
Identity in Christ produces humility because it is gift, and security because it rests in God’s promise.
Reject
Challenge identities that demand worship
Career, strength, relationships, culture, and reputation can be received with gratitude, but they become cruel masters when they define worth.
Name the loss or criticism that most threatens your sense of self. It often reveals where identity has become attached to something temporary.
Practice
Live from belonging through embodied obedience
Identity is not merely a sentence to repeat. Believers put off the old life and put on compassion, humility, patience, forgiveness, love, and gratitude.
If shame, anxiety, trauma, or depression is overwhelming, seek pastoral support and qualified mental-health care. Receiving help is not a denial of faith.
Faithful response
Use the action plan.
Read Ephesians 1:3–14 and list every phrase describing God’s action for believers.
Identify one false source of worth and one practice that reinforces identity in Christ.
Share the struggle with a trusted pastor, mentor, or counselor.
Help another man
Walk with someone.
Listen to his story before supplying a slogan.
Ground encouragement in Scripture without dismissing grief or mental-health needs.
Affirm dignity while still calling one another toward repentance and obedience.

Bring your life into the light of the gospel and pursue repentance, holiness, wisdom, self-control, and perseverance in the power of the Holy Spirit.
